5 Free Defragmenting Softwares For Windows

If you are a kind of user who transfers data frequently in and out your hard disk, you might feel after a period of time that your applications are taking longer loading time. This is due to fragmentation and can be solved using a good defragmenting utility. Defragmenting your hard disks regularly is an important part of System Management and cannot be ignored.  Keeping your hard disks tuned not only keeps them healthy but also promises a peak performance. Some free defragmenting softwares that I found useful are:

Defraggler

This is one of the most famous software that came from Piriform. It is very efficient and is capable of performing normal analysis and defragmenting tasks. It can also perform quick defrag, defragmentation of single files, folders and free space. Additionally it can scan drives for error and can also be auto scheduled. Its portable version is also available.

Smart Defrag

Easy to use interface, its functionality is divided into three simple categories: Defrag now where you can perform analysis and defragmentation, auto defrag helps you to perform the job whenever the CPU is idle and you can schedule it any time you prefer.

My Verdict

Defragmenting your hard disk at least once in two weeks will be good enough to keep it proper indexed and tuned. I have used Defraggler and Smart Defrag for prolonged time. When portability is required I always rely to Defraggler.
